10 Off-Road Driving Tips

One of the best things to do when you have an SUV is to practice some off-road driving. However, driving on tough road is really hard and extremely dangerous. Therefore, at first you should consult with people, who have some experience in off-road driving. Here are the 10 best tips for off-road driving and I really hope you will find them useful:
- Some off-road experts advise that you should deflate your tires to improve the traction of your SUV. However, unless you have bead-lock rims do not deflate your tires to more than 10 pounds per square inch, because otherwise your handling and steering capabilities will worsen.
- When you are driving off-road, make sure that you will place the largest obstacles that you encounter in front of your tires. That way you will avoid damaging your SUV tires.
- When you are traversing a ravine, make sure that you will go through it at an angle of about 45 degrees, because that way you will keep as many of your SUV tires as possible on the ground and get the best traction possible.
- When you have to drive in deep water, make sure that you will enter it with the lowest speed possible and after that accelerate a bit. That way you will create a wave, which will decrease the amount of water in front of you.
- If your SUV have manual transmission, when you are climbing make sure that you will start from your 1 st gear and later on accelerate slowly. Remember that you should not replace your gears quickly, because there is a chance that your SUV will roll backward.
- If you do not have posi-traction and happen to be spinning one of your wheels, try to modulate the breaks while accelerating. Usually that will cause you to apply equal traction to all your SUV tires, so you will improve the handling capabilities of your SUV.
- When you buy air stems for the rims of your SUV, make sure that they will be created from rubber, because that way they will flex away when you meet an obstacle.
- Before you set off to drive, use a pencil to mark where the weight of the wheel on your rims. That way if there is some damage later, you will easily notice and get it fixed.
- Remember that sipping will increase the traction of your SUV tires with more than 22% and also it will increase the duration of life for your tires with more than 30%.
- Wax your SUV before driving off-road, because that way you will avoid scratches and also you will easily remove those that might appear later.
